Selling my '64 Bug

Hey all, I have (very reluctantly) decided to sell my '64 Beetle. As you will see in the Craigslist post should you decide to look at it, I have done an extensive amount of work on it. I had plans to finish it off with a little body work, some new paint and new headliner and seat upholstery, but I'm...

Heater boxes

Wondering if anyone has any heater boxes lying around they are itchin to be rid of. They would befor a 1600 engine from a 71 Bug. The ones I have are operational, but they are getting pretty rusty and I noticed that one has a small hole in it from what looks someone nicked it with a cutting blade fr...

Re: Axle Nut removal Tool?

Just tried the propane torch yesterday followed by another go with a large ratchet and 4 ft. extension, still a no go. I did soak it in PB Blaster before heating it up but not after. I think next I will see if I can get it driveable to a friends house to try his air impact. If that doesn't work, I m...

Axle Nut removal Tool?

Was wondering if anyone has any tricks for gettign Axle nuts off? I busted a bleed valve off and need to get ito the hub to replace the wheel cylinder on my Bug. I have now broken two breaker bars trying to get the nut off, even after soaking it overnight with penetrating oil. I have read on theSamb...

Re: New Member / My '64 Bug Project

Update!! Well I've got the new heater channels installed and welded in on both sides and Ive got the body back on the pan. I was surprised at how well everything fit back together. I had to do very little tweaking. The doors close now better than they did before, although they still don't close effo...

Re: New Member / My '64 Bug Project

Slowly! I've got the drivers side channel out. I had to order some new defroster hose (the hose that runs from the heater channel up the A pillar to the defroster vents) and a repair panel for the front edge of the rear wheel well. I've also got to fabricate my own small repair panels for a few spot...

Looking for pedal assembly 64 bug

Hey all, I picked up my old pedal assembly to start cleaning it up today and get it reinstalled onto the car and realized that one of the mounting holes is badly cracked. I was hoping someone had a serviceable pedal assembly lying around that would fit a 64 bug, and would be willing to part with it ...

Re: Media Blasting

I may be interested in getting the fenders for my '64 beetle blasted (both paint/rust). This is contingent on whether or not I'm able get the dents in them repaired. I'll look you up if I end up needing it. Thanks!

And here are the photos, some of them are a tad blurry. Re: New Member / My '64 Bug Project

Hey all, I haven't updated this in a while as I always forget to take pictures as I go. Anyway I finally got a few today when I pulled the chassis out to spray on the undercoating. Since the first post, I have taken all the fenders and bumpers off, and lifted the body off and set it on a pair of saw...

Re: Welding question

Thanks for the responses guys. I went ahead and bought myself a mig welder and gas tank and am not disappointed so far. I've been a little bad about taking pictures of my progress on the bug. Hopefully I'll get something posted within the next few weeks!

Welding question

Hey all, I will finally be able to get the body off of the 64 Bug this weekend and hope to get started on cutting out the old floor pans. Before I get to welding in the new pans I have a welding question. A friend of mine loaned me his Lincoln flux-core wire welder, but after what Ive felt is a good...

Re: New Member / My '64 Bug Project

Thanks Jon, I think I probably will go ahead and do the heater channels and the pans. I'm hoping that this weekend I will get the time to finish pulling the fenders off and build some big sawhorses so I can pull the body off and get a better look at the channels. I'll fork out the cash for some dece...

New Member / My '64 Bug Project
