So because I simply stated my opinion that it's a little early to spend 10% of our budget on a shift knob for a car that we haven't even arranged rust repair for, you are now going to quit using the forum? The whole point of this forum or of any discussion, is to share ideas and opinions. Not everyone agrees with every single idea that gets posted or stated. It's part of life.

Grow up.

I don't have any problem. I just would like to see the project move forward in the best way possible. Hard to do without having some discussion.

Point taken. I do not think a high dollar shifter is the fight thing to purchase at this time.

First I would like to introduce myself. I am from Oklahoma and am a graphic designer. Have been into VWs since I can remember. First was a '68 bug, then a '62 bug second owner. I sold both before my wife and I were married and have wanted another one ever since. I have recently purchased a '74 sunbug.

I was looking online for different parts and ran onto your site. I love what you are doing. My nephew has diabetes.

I saw on your list that you are needing the shift knob, emblem and stripes. Also see that you are or have purchased the stripes already. If you have not purchased them I would like to donate them if possible. I work for a company that does trade show exhibits and car wraps. I have the vinyl material and art layout to do this. I am going to put these on mine.

Also on the emblem. That is something I need as well. I am working with a friend that does metal die-cutting. I have given him the layout for the emblem and we are going to see how it turns out. It's all done by machine so it should look great. Instead of being plastic it will be metal like the usual VW decklid emblems. If you would be interested in that I would be happy to donate as well. (again if the first one turns out OK)

The shift knob . . . . well I am looking for that as well.

Also if you would like to redo the original stickers on the car, ie. color code by the front strut, info inside the door and what not. (silver stickers) I would be happy to do that as well. I have silver vinyl that makes them look like the original stuff.

Let me know if there is anything else graphic wise that I can help on. Would be more than happy to help out. I apologize for the long post.

Kasey

Wow...what a kind offer. We did buy the stripes, but let us know if the deck lid emblem becomes available. Good luck with your project!

Good news. Spoke with him about getting another one made and he is all for donating one for you guys! I will keep you up to date on the progress. He asked about a time frame. I am not sure how far you are on the project, but he does this in his spare time when business is slow.

Again I will keep you informed on how the progress is going with the emblem.

It will be before that. Just got off the phone with him. He just wanted to make sure you didn't need it by this weekend.

I will keep you informed and also if there is anything I find I will let you know.

Thanks.
In case you didn't get the gist of this from the forum string, we bought "Nugget" thinking it was in pretty good shape and ended up hitting a bunch of rust in the frame and support beams (sigh). So then we hesitated, thinking maybe it was a lost cause, but now it sounds like we'll be continuing with the project.
Good luck with yours!

"Nugget" That's a good name. Sorry to hear what you ran into. Hopefully it's not too bad. Are there pictures on the site? I will have to do some searching.

I will post some pictures of mine (still looking for a good name) soon.

Again if there is anything else I can do to help let me know. Here in Oklahoma we have a few salvages that are VW only. There are treasures still to found sometimes.
