Next Meeting
Our next meeting will be on July 20th and will be a Poker Run. We’ll meet at the Frontier Building, top of the parking garage, cruise through a series of poker run stops, and we'll end at a burger joint. We’ll do “split-the-pot” with a $5 entry fee…but if you want to try to come-up with some prizes (Morrison, Schucks, etc) that’s always fun. Last year we gave away some club stuff, too.
See you on the 20th on the roof of the Frontier Building parking garage.

Aussie in Alaska
The Volkswagen Club of Western Australia has run a nice article about Clayton (owned by AACVWs club member Greg Wilkinson) in their May-June 2010 issue of Via West, and they put his smiling face (and classic Alaskan license plate) on the cover! Way to go Clayton, and congrats, Greg!

"Nugget the Sun Bug"
The club is restoring a '74 Sun Bug, affectionately named "Nugget", as a fund raiser for the American Diabetes Association Check out the photos on our forum. |
Membership
We've initiated a program where members will receive a membership card upon paying their annual dues. On the back of the card are boxes. Boxes can be checked off every time you participate in a club event (meeting, cruise, show etc.). At next year's Christmas party, you'll be able to "cash in" your cards for incredible prizes (OK, fun stuff anyway). Just the club's way of saying "Thank you" to everyone who was involved over the year.
Recruitment Cards
Have you seen an aircooled VW in a parking lot, and want to introduce them to our club? Leave them one of these club recruitment cards!
Downloadable in
PDF or
Word format.
Hats/T-shirts
T-shirts are still available...short sleeve $10 for members/$15 for non-members and long sleeve $15 for members/$20 for non-members. Hats are $20 for members (current dues paid) and $25 for non-members.
Dues
Dues are $24/year per family, due in January. Members not paid by the end of January will lose their membership privileges (such as they are) ie...voting, discounts on club merchandise, having their cars featured on the website etc. To pay your club dues, please see John Adamson at a meeting or drop a check in the mail to our club mailbox:

Past News & Events
2009 Christmas Party

The 2009 Christmas party was a good time for all who braved the cold and icy roads to attend. We had lots of delicious food, a gift exchange, door prizes, and a "guess what's in the boxes" game that was a lot of fun. We held our annual election for club officers, and Eddie Hoecher was elected as the next club President for 2010. Congratulations, Eddie! Still up for grabs is the Secretary position, so if you are interested in a leadership role in the club, please contact Eddie! Jim Miller has agreed to serve another term as the Vice-President, and John Adamson will continue his roll as Treasurer in 2010. Congrats to everyone and thanks! Also thanks to Rita and Pat for putting together a very tactile game. Lots of fun! Thanks to Doc and Kathy for refreshing the club’s plastic ware and paper products supply, thanks to John Adamson for the drinks, thanks to Matt Williams for getting us the room, and thanks to Magic Eddie for running the gift exchange.

A BIG THANK YOU goes out to Greg Wilkinson who has usually served as either Secretary, President, or Secretary AND President, and has gone above and beyond to keep our club active over the years. Greg is taking a deserved break from a leadership role in the club, but he and Clayton will continue to be active members.
